HYATT Capital Gate Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainability was officially sealed with its ISO 14001 certification. The hotel recently passed the final auditing stage and received the certification within the first year of the hotel’s opening.

“As one of the capital’s most recognisable buildings, we are invested in continued environmental sustainability, echoing the call from Hyatt globally to positively impact the communities in which we operate and to position ourselves,” said Ashwini Kumar, general manager of Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi.

ISO 14001 sets the criteria for an environmental management system and assists in reducing the cost of waste management, savings in consumption of energy and materials, lower distribution costs, and an improved corporate image.

Currently, the hotel is also in the process of implementing the Abu Dhabi Environmental Health and Safety Management System (AD EHSMS).

The hotel adheres to other sustainability initiatives such as: motion detection sensors for all light fittings in back-of-house areas to conserve energy and reduce the property’s carbon footprint, thermal wheels for energy recovery on fresh air handling units (FAHU) have been installed and compact florescent lamps fitted in the back-of-house areas.
