EMIRATES Aviation College, the institution of choice for higher education in aviation studies recently launched two postgraduate programmes as part of its commitment to constantly offer new industry-relevant programmes.
Recently the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research accredited the college with an MSc in Aviation Security and MSc in Aviation Safety. Designed in collaboration with Coventry University, UK, Dubai Police General HQ – General Department of Airports Security, and the General Civil Aviation Authority, UAE, the programmes offer unique and specialised training; making the College the first academic institution in the region and one of the few in the world to offer such programmes.
“Aviation is a booming industry, estimated to contribute 15 per cent to the UAE economy, and the demand for professional education in this arena is expanding exponentially, as evidenced by our growing graduating class every year,” said Dr. Ahmad Al Ali, vice-chancellor Emirates Aviation College. The Masters in Aviation Safety and Aviation Security programme educates students on safety and security issues, technologies and procedures within the aviation industry. The programmes are based on a core understanding of risk management, human factors, strategy, operations and planning.
The Safety programme focusses on measures taken against the threat of an accident, while Security focusing on protection from threats motivated by hostility or malice, each programme will enable students to consider in depth the different areas of regulations and compliance, design, use of technologies and systems that are associated with these different perspectives. The programmes are accredited as a dual award program where students who successfully complete their studies receive separate awards from Emirates Aviation College and Coventry University.
