Klein… three new openings for Anantara in the UAE

Moritz Klein, the newly appointed general manager for Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa and area general manager for Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spa in Abu Dhabi is all set to spearhead the group’s growth in the region and represents Anantara’s continued strategic focus on the Middle East.

Speaking about 2012, Klein said, “Anantara saw a very strong support in 2012 from both domestic and international market. All properties saw an increase in occupancy and average rate which reflected in an overall increase in RevPar.

“Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara and Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara came into the third and fourth year of operation respectively and saw a growth in RevPar and average rate.

“The trend going into 2013 is that the booking period is becoming shorter and shorter with a market developing into luxury and quality products that are priced correctly,” he added.

This year the group is set to make its debut in Dubai with the Anantara The Palm scheduled to open in in September 2013.

“We are also very excited about the forthcoming properties on Sir Bani Yas Island – the Anantara Al Yamm Villas and the Anantara Al Sahel Villas  – which will offer unique product in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi with the savannah and beach experience on an authentic Arabian Island in the Arabian Gulf Sea with numerous recreational activities in the Wildlife park, at the Sir Bani Yas stables and aquatic activities with the new Water sports centre opening shortly, quite a unique offering for the UAE and the Gulf countries in general, to this date there are no competitors that match the description,” said Klein.

“We are witnessing multiple level of interest from wholesale and DMC market and we are expecting a successful launch of this in the second Quarter and third Quarter of this year respectively”.

“By the end of the year Anantara will have six operational properties in the UAE with a total of 845 rooms which is a growth of 41 per cent in UAE only, which may be relatively small and how we judge and rate our self is by achieving our fair market share from within our competitor set,” he further added.
