flydubai grows its Saudi network

FLYDUBAI, Dubai’s innovative low-cost airline, has added another destination in Saudi Arabia to its network, with two flights a week to Ha’il, commencing on February 13, 2013.

flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said: “As we remain committed to better serve the Saudi market, we are grateful to the authorities for their continuous support of flydubai. The start of this service reaffirms our commitment to serve regional airports with direct flights to Dubai. We look forward to serving passengers from Ha’il, which is becoming increasing important to the Kingdom’s economy.”

flydubai first launched services to Saudi Arabia in November 2010, and now serves Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha Yanbu, Dammam, Gassim, Tabuk and Taif and in addition to Ha’il.

 

Etihad flies to Amsterdam

ETIHAD Airways will launch daily flights between the airline’s home-base of Abu Dhabi and Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands on May 15, 2013 and carry the KL code of Dutch national carrier, KLM. The daily flights will complement KLM’s current service between Amsterdam and Abu Dhabi which will increase to daily from the summer and carry Etihad Airways’ EY code, ensuring that the two airlines can offer a combined double daily service.

James Hogan, president and chief executive officer of Etihad Airways said: “We are delighted that Amsterdam will become a part Etihad Airways’ global network from 15 May. The Dutch capital joins a group of 17 leading European cities that Etihad Airways flies to including Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, London and Paris.

“The double daily service between Amsterdam and Abu Dhabi will benefit passengers looking to travel from the Netherlands to Abu Dhabi and beyond to destinations like Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Australia.

“This is indicative of Abu Dhabi’s growing importance as a global hub. In addition to Amsterdam, Etihad Airways will also launch flights to Sao Paulo, Washington D.C., and Ho Chi Minh City in 2013.”

These new destinations are part of the airline’s 10-year network growth plan which will see Etihad Airways fly to more than 100 destinations with a fleet of more than 150 aircraft by 2020.

 

Cebu Pacific announces direct daily flights

THE Philippines’ largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific announced it will operate direct daily flights between Manila and Dubai, beginning October 7, 2013. CEB will be the only Philippine carrier to fly direct to Dubai from Manila.

“Dubai is the largest long-haul market to and from the Philippines, so CEB is proud to be the only Philippine carrier to fly direct between Manila and Dubai. According to IATA PaxIS data, more than 70 per cent of passengers on this route take multiple stops and connecting flights, so we definitely look forward to serving this market,” said Alex Reyes, Cebu Pacific general manager, Long Haul Division.

CEB operates the most extensive network in the Philippines with 32 domestic destinations and hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark and Davao. It also offers 21 international destinations, namely Bangkok, Bali, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon (Seoul), Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Osaka, Shanghai, Siem Reap, Singapore, Taipei and Xiamen.

dnata announced that it has been appointed by FlyGeorgia to be its General Sales Agent (GSA) in the region. Established in the Georgian town of Tbilisi in August last year, the airline has now launched its Dubai-Georgia service.

Flying into and out of Dubai International Airport Terminal One, FlyGeorgia will operate its Dubai-Tbilisi flight three times a week with a comfortable, single-aisle Airbus 319 aircraft.
