Clinique Generale-Beaulieu leads the way in raising medical and wellness offerings in Switzerland

Clinique Générale-Beaulieu is a private hospital in Geneva, Switzerland which opened in 1899. Their reputation for the highest levels of care in a comfortable environment is worldwide and has developed over the years based on their objectives of quality and perfection.

With a wide choice of private health care in Switzerland, patients are most likely attracted to the fact that Clinique Générale-Beaulieu was the first clinic in French speaking Switzerland to be awarded ISO 9001 standard certificate. The hospital is also a member of The Swiss Leading Hospitals, an association of the top private hospitals and clinics in Switzerland. Renowned for its strict quality checks of 12 criteria in relation to management, accreditation of doctors, nursing care, catering and administration, Clinique Générale-Beaulieu is the only health facility in Geneva to be part of this exclusive 20 member group of institutions.

Exploring the 135-bed hospital, you could be forgiven for thinking you were actually in a luxury hotel. With 80 staff in the hospitality department alone, the rooms are all private, spacious and beautifully decorated and available as singles, doubles or suites. Each room has its own private bathroom and a television, radio, iPod charger and telephone. There is also a choice of suites including Junior Suites and VIP Suites. When it comes to cuisine, the hospital has built up a reputation for fine cuisine. Personalised menus incorporating the best ingredients can all be served in the privacy of the patient’s room or in the dining room overlooking the surrounding views of the countryside.

Each year, the hospital welcomes more than 6,500 inpatients and 25,000 outpatients with approximately five per cent to 10 per cent of patients coming from the Middle East.

While they offer over 30 medical departments, their surgical specialities are gynaecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and traumatology, ENT, plastic surgery, urology and digestive surgery. Clinique Générale-Beaulieu is also very popular with guests for check-ups with the hospital currently seeing three patients a week for this service.

Particular mention should be made about the Maternity Unit which was added to the hospital in 1995. The unit oversees delivery but also deals with unexpected events and emergencies and provides care for new-borns with health problems. With this in mind, the unit has direct access to the operating theatre but also has one of its rooms specially designed to be used for surgical procedure and there is also a neo-natal intensive care unit. Physiotherapy balls help future mothers relax while one of the rooms is even equipped with a large bathtub for a relaxing option during labour.  In 2010, over 700 babies were born.

The hospital is incredibly progressive; adding to its seven theatres and endoscopy room, the recent purchase of the Da Vinci SI robot meant the clinic launched the first multi-disciplinary robot laparoscopy centre in Geneva. There is also an Institute of Nuclear Medicine which offers patients access to medical imaging techniques and a full range of treatments and laboratory diagnosis services using radioactively marked medicines.

To complement the medical offering, Clinique Générale-Beaulieu offers several VIP services, some of which specifically cater to the Middle Eastern market such as Arabic speaking staff and translation services as well as the serving of halal food. Other VIP services include a dedicated guest relation service, a choice of suites, and arrangement of transfers.

Patient care across the board is also extended with measures such as colour therapy, for example some of the medical offerings such as the MRI rooms use colour therapy to help relax the patients and put them at ease.

The hospital recognises that the Middle East is one of its key markets and as such has marketing plans in place for 2013 which include visits to Jeddah in February, Abu Dhabi in April and showcasing their offering at the Health and Wellness Bahrain Expo in 2013. Other potential visits include Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
