flydubai to Maldives
FLYDUBAI, Dubai’s innovative low-cost airline, has announced flights to Malé, the capital of the Republic of Maldives.
Commencing on January 19, 2013, flights will operate five times a week between Dubai’s Terminal 2 and the Maldives’ Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on the island of Malé.
“We are very excited about adding Malé to our destination network,” said flydubai’s CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith. “As the first low-cost carrier from the UAE to fly to the Maldives, we are making this island paradise even more accessible to travellers across our network. flydubai offers a low-cost model with innovation and excellent service.

Thai Airways launches flights to Sapporo
SORAJAK Kasemsuvan, president of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Thai), recently announced three weekly flights to Sapporo, the airline’s sixth destination in Japan. The first Winter Olympics in Asia were held in Sapporo in 1972, and today the city is famous for its annual Sapporo Snow Festival (Yuki Matsuri) each February, attracting over two million worldwide visitors. Thai operates flights from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka.

easyJet joins Emirates Skywards’ programme
TO facilitate travel around Europe, Skywards, Emirates award-winning frequent flyer programme, and easyJet, Europe’s fourth largest airline, announced the launch of a redemption agreement of Skywards Miles for flights on easyJet; connecting Emirates 31 destination strong European network with all of easyJet destinations.
Now members will be able be use their Skywards Miles to fly with easyJet to over 30 countries across Europe and North Africa. Used in conjunction with an Emirates flight or for separate travel itineraries, Skywards members will have the choice to expand their travel options across Europe.
The agreement applies to redemption of Skywards Miles on easyJet flights only and will apply to all destinations across the easyJet network. All redemptions for flights can be made online through the Skywards web-site and will include applicable charges and taxes. Skywards members will be able to add on optional extras, such as additional baggage allowance, using either Skywards Miles or cash payment.
More baggage for Etihad Coral passengers
ETIHAD Airways has increased the complimentary baggage allowance for Coral Economy class guests to 30kg. Members of the Etihad Guest program will enjoy additional allowances. For example, an Etihad Guest Elite member traveling in Economy will now be able to check as much as 50 kilos of baggage on a complimentary basis.
The new guidelines will also allow for complimentary carriage of some sporting equipment. In addition to the standard checked baggage allowance, a guest in any cabin will be able to check in up to 15kg of SCUBA equipment and golf bags weighing up to 15 kg on a complimentary basis.
In March 2012, Etihad Airways increased the baggage allowance for premium passengers to 40kg for Pearl Business class and 50kg for Diamond First class.
