Muscat-Salalah route proves successful

OMAN Air has recorded a huge surge in traffic between Muscat and Salalah this summer resulting from increasing demand. The airline operated 163 extra flights on the domestic route between August 19 and September 8, 2012, in addition to the 226 scheduled services, thus offered nearly sixty thousand seats in total – 22,500 more seats than over the same period last year. Nearly 50,000 passengers flew on the route, an increase of more than 20,000 compared with August-September 2011. The extra flights accounted for 40 per cent of the total number of people travelling to Salalah with Oman Air and the extraordinary demand for tickets also resulted in an impressive seat factor of 88 per cent.

 

flydubai boosts its network

FLYDUBAI has inaugurated services to its latest destination in Central and Eastern Europe – Bucharest, the capital of Romania. In parallel to flydubai’s expanding presence, air traffic between the UAE and Russia has increased by 85 per cent between the UAE and Ukraine, traffic has risen by 112 per cent.

The airline will also launch operations to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia (KSA), on November 7, 2012. flydubai already flies to Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha, Dammam, Gassim, Taif and Yanbu in Saudi Arabia. Return fares from Dubai to Tabuk start at Dh1,000 ($272).

 

Dubai marks Pegasus’ 58th destination

TURKEY’S low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines continues to expand its international flight network announcing Dubai as its 58th destination. Booking is open now for the four-times-a-week flights from London Stansted via Istanbul which started on October 18, with fares from just £152.65 ($245) one-way including taxes and charges.

Passengers can also take advantage of the twin centre connection, taking in the Turkish delight of Istanbul en-route to the Eastern promise of Dubai. 

 

RwandAir now flying daily from Dubai

RWANDAIR, the national carrier of Rwanda and Africa’s fastest growing airline, is increasing its frequencies to and from Dubai with a daily flight to Kigali, starting this month. Simultaneously, the additional flights allow fast and seamless connections in Kigali to the RwandAir network.

In a major overhaul of its operations and with brand new aircraft joining the fleet this month, RwandAir also adjusted frequencies to other existing cities served. Lagos, Brazzaville, Libreville and Johannesburg are conveniently connected to the Dubai flights. Closer to its base in Kigali, RwandAir offers equally immaculate connections to Nairobi, Entebbe, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Bujumbura. 

 

Air Arabia expands its network

AIR ARABIA, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, has announced a number of new destinations to its network. The airline added two weekly services to Ufa and three weekly services to Kazan while introducing additional service to Yekaterinburg in Russia. Last month also saw the airline touch down in Odessa, Ukraine’s fourth largest city. Air Arabia is UAE’s first airline to enter Odessa.

Flights to the Iraqi city Basra will commence on November 4, marking Air Arabia’s 79th destination worldwide.
