IN its 11th year International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM), taking place in Cannes from December 3 to 6 2012, is reflecting its cumulative and on-going success, expanding to be able to accept even more innovative and interesting high-end travel experiences to complement the sought after timeless classics in global luxury travel. This year, the event will welcome a pioneer of luxury during the renowned ILTM Opening Forum on December 3, P.R.S. Oberoi, chairman and chief executive officer of The Oberoi Group, who will take centre stage in a live interview to reveal his ethos for the Oberoi brand and his predictions for the future of luxury travel.
The interview will be conducted by Klara Glowczewska, editor-in-chief of Condé Nast Traveller who will also ask Oberoi about the origins and progress of The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development, considered among the best in Asia.
The ILTM Opening Forum will again reveal new research in luxury travel trends for the future and a presentation by John Andrews, consultant editor for The Economist: ‘The World in 2013’ following his impactful similar presentations at ILTM 2010 and 2011. His presentation will predict the world economy in 2013 as well as countries, industries and people to watch.
During the ensuing three days, ILTM 2012 will welcome new luxury travel suppliers including the award-winning eco chic luxury Tiamo Resorts in the Bahamas that offers a stunning private island experience only accessible by boat or seaplane or Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, which allows guests in 27 countries to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul with a green conscience.
Besides the new additions there are many annual returners, amongst them some of the world’s most sparkling names in luxury travel including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Ritz-Carlton, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Mandarin Oriental, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Capella Hotels, Shangri-La, Orient-Express, Amanresorts, The Dorchester Collection and Cheval Blanc. Very different and independent experiences have confirmed their interest including Luxury Adventures Iceland with their indigenous offering of black sand beaches, 130 volcanoes, 10,000 waterfalls and 24 hours of daylight; Latin America’s Blue Parallel that offers custom-tailored itineraries with insider-access experiences – such as outdoor adventures with Olympic athletes, ‘after hours’ tours and meetings with scholars, artists and prestigious political and business leaders – primarily designed around the themes of ‘World Heritage’ destinations; Nira Hotels & Resorts with properties for ‘nomadic people’ in Maurice, the Swiss Alps and Edinburgh and opening plans for China, Japan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and in the Seychelles; Cruise Specialist Italian Details or Peruvian Aqua Expeditions and Andean Experiences.
