airberlin launch non-stop flights to Germany

THIS summer, airberlin offers non-stop flights on a daily basis from Abu Dhabi to the capital city, Berlin, and to the Rhineland metropolis of Dusseldorf. Return tickets are available from Dh3,250 ($884) in Economy Class and from Dh17,890 ($4,870) in Business Class.

Via Berlin and Dusseldorf, airberlin operates flights on a daily basis to New York and several times a week to Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Vancouver and San Francisco.

airberlin also offer great value domestic connections via Berlin to cities such as Frankfurt, Cologne-Bonn or Munich. airberlin operates direct flights to Gothenburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris and in Austria to Graz, Vienna and Salzburg.

Virgin Atlantic announce new London App

VIRGIN Atlantic Airways has launched a free iPhone app that brings London to life with a new City guide, featuring itineraries from famous Londoners and the best places to eat, drink and sleep.

Launched in the iTunes store, the free download is called ‘Virgin Atlantic’s London City Guide.’ It features exclusive interviews with famous Londoners, little-known facts and lists such as ‘The top ten films featuring London.’ There are fashion tips for getting the ‘London look’, and information on the best out of London destinations if you’d like a weekend away.

Ready-made tours are also provided such as ‘Shop till you drop’, ‘London for foodies’, ‘A Royal tour’ and the ‘Sunset cycle tour’.

The Virgin Atlantic London City Guide is available for free now in the iTunes App Store.   

Kenya Airways announces schedule changes

KENYA Airways has announced changes to its Summer Schedule. The airline has introduced a new direct flight to Dubai which will operate three times a week with late evening departures from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to capture the late connecting traffic arriving into Nairobi. This is in addition to the daily Dubai service that the airline operates. The airline will now operate 10 non-stop flights to Dubai. The schedule comes as the airline moves to increase frequencies on existing routes to meet changing and growing demand while opening new routes in Africa and the Middle East.

The airline plans to boost its network with new destinations being launched between July and October 2012 including Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Eldoret (Kenya), Abuja (Nigeria) and Beirut (Lebanon).

Emirates launches UK's first urban cable car

EMIRATES Air Line, the UK’s first urban cable car, has been launched, bringing a new and innovative way to cross London’s River Thames. Passengers can now take a “flight” up to 90 m above one of the worlds most famous waterways, capturing dramatic views of the City, Canary Wharf, historic Greenwich, the Thames Barrier and the Olympic Park. The new river crossing in east London can be used by pedestrians, wheelchair users and cyclists. Every 30 seconds, they can board one of the 34 cabins from two brand new terminals, Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks. A journey across the 1.1 kms cable line takes up to 10 minutes.

Emirates’ Dh204 million ($55m) sponsorship of the project was announced in October last year.
