With its natural diversity, Salalah is a choice destination in Oman

THE city of Salalah is a popular destination for tourism due to the natural attractions and its seasonal monsoon, locally known as “Khareef.”  Salalah boasts of a distinctive natural diversity where the coast blends with the mountains and the desert in wonderful harmony. During the Salalah Tourism Festival, which takes place from July 15 to August 31 every year, Salalah becomes a popular choice of destination for guests from the region, looking to escape the heat. Its idyllic beaches and coastline are also major attractions for scuba diving and bird watching.

This year, the Ministry of Tourism has partnered with Oman Air to launch a summer travel campaign in time for the Khareef season. The special packages include discounted rates to some of the Sultanate’s top hotels, free iftar dinners, and free extra night stays.

Oman’s Ministry of Tourism has also been cooperating with Oman Air to attract more international transit passengers and short-break travellers from the GCC markets. Among the Ministry’s key initiatives are stopover and value offers as well as a unique year-round cultural, entertainment and sporting events calendar.

To keep up with the demand for the destination, Air Arabia too launched a new twice-weekly service to Salalah. “Oman has rapidly established itself as a major tourist destination worldwide and introducing this attractive service is just in-time for our customer to benefit from while planning their summer get-a-ways,” said Adel Ali, group chief executive officer for the airline.
