Bahrain gears up for summer festival

THE annual Bahrain Summer Festival is all set to launch on June 14, under the title, Manama Capital of Joy. With a month-long entertainment schedule, the activities of the Bahrain Summer Festival will centre on Nakhool City, which will be located in the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIECC). Keeping with the Capital of Arab Culture’s intensive programme of cultural exchange and dialogue, Nakhool City will feature a variety of events, each with the distinctive flavour of a different country and its traditions. The event will also cater to local and regional families while its programme promises to interest all age groups.

The events of the Bahrain Summer Festival programme will be held at the BIECC starting June 14 till July 15, 2012. The festival will entail various events and activities that aim towards bringing joy and happiness to all Bahraini families, residents, and tourists. The festival is represented by its mascot “Nakhool”, a character symbolising Bahrain’s tradition, culture and Dilmunic history. Nakhool will be host a city that features a variety of cultural, entertainment, and educational activities; every day for the duration of the festival.

The Summer of Joy will also return this year celebrating happiness and blissfulness, with a diverse range of cultural, educational, and entertaining programmes. Bahrain Summer Festival 2012 focuses on Manama as the city was announced as the Capital of Culture for 2012 and will become the Capital of Tourism next year.
