Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts has named Anders Dimblad general manager of Banyan Tree Al Wadi and Banyan Tree, Ras Al Khaimah Beach. He began his career at Banyan Tree in 2003, and worked with the group in the Seychelles, Ihuru and Bangkok.

Rosewood welcomes Steinbock
Rosewood Hotels has named Erich Steinbock regional vice president for Saudi Arabia, and managing director of the Al Faisaliah and Al Khozama hotels. He was formerly area director for Rosewood in the US, overseeing the five-star Carlyle in New York and Rosewood Tucker’s Point in Bermuda.

The Radisson Blu Residence, Dubai Marina, has appointed Wael Wardah its director of sales. Wardah moved to the UAE with the Ramada, later working with Accor at the World Trade Centre Dubai before moving to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Media City, his most recent posting.

Millennium Hotel Doha has announced two new appointments: Tarek Haroun (right) joins as director of sales and marketing, moving from the Al Ahsa InterContinental. Maya Hanna joins as PR and communications manager for the hotel and for the group’s two new properties; Kingsgate Doha and Copthorne Doha.

Emaar Hospitality Group has named Philippe Georges Zuber general manager of The Address Downtown Dubai, a flagship property of The Address Hotels + Resorts. He has worked with international operators in such cities as Seoul, Paris, Berlin, Casablanca, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

Pascal Gauvin is now chief operating officer for IHG in India, the Middle East and Africa. He joined IHG in 1993 and has held senior positions across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. His most recent position was VP operations, Near East & Africa.

Southern Sun Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels has re-appointed Andre Leung to the post of complex human resources manager. Leung was part of the pre-opening team in 2007. He moves from his role as personnel manager at One & Only Royal Mirage Dubai.

Kunkler is major star at Minor
Minor Hotel Group has appointed Robert Kunkler as its senior vice president of hotel operations. Kunkler will oversee operating Anantara properties across all geographies. He joins MHG from Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts where he held the position of regional vice president for operations in Dubai.

Lufthansa names new chief for EAME
Carsten Schaeffer joins Lufthansa German Airlines as the airline’s new vice president for sales and services for Southeast Europe, Africa and Middle East. Schaffer was previously managing director at Miles & More International, Lufthansa’s frequent flyer programme, from 2005 to March 2012.
