RAK Airways, a national carrier of the UAE, has marked the introduction of long-haul flights with the introduction of its twelfth route to Bangkok, Thailand. Starting from June 1, 2012 RAK Airways will offer four non-stop flights a week to Bangkok. Earlier this year, the airline introduced a new service to Kathmandu starting February 2012. Across the GCC, RAK Airways increased flights to Kuwait and Qatar. RAK Airways will offer seven flights a week to Kuwait in addition to an increase in the frequency of its flights to Doha to seven times a week.

RAK Airways CEO Omar Jahameh said, “With the introduction of our first long-haul route to Bangkok, RAK Airways has cemented its unique market position between the well-established full service carriers and the low-cost carriers. Our value offering and route network is now markedly different to other carriers in the region; as one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations we are confident our Bangkok route will be extremely successful.”

The airline recently announced it’s partnered with Al Ghurair Exchange to offer customers a convenient option to pay for their tickets. Passengers can now pay for tickets booked through the airline’s call centre at any branch across the UAE, on presenting their reservation number.
