Jumeirah to offer Pearl Diving experience

JUMEIRAH Group is now offering guests a traditional pearl diving experience. Starting March 2, guests of Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, visitors and residents of the UAE will have a chance to learn about and experience the ancient pearling traditions that were once the main source of income for inhabitants of the region. Dressed in traditional clothing, participants board an authentic dhow boat off the shores of Jebel Ali and use original pearl diving methods to collect oysters in the shallow waters of the Gulf. The Pavilion Dive Centre at Jumeirah Beach Hotel is running this exciting cultural activity in partnership with the Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG).

Best Western debuts in Saudi Arabia

BEST Western International has continued its Middle East expansion with the launch of its first-ever hotel in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Located in Al Khobar, the Best Western Plus Sand Rose Suite Hotel features 48 rooms and suites, and a range of facilities to excite both business travellers and family groups. The Junior Suites are ideal for couples, while the two-bedroom Executive Suites cater for mid-size families. The larger Panorama Suites offer two bedrooms with a separate living and dining area and kitchenette, and the expansive Royal Suites feature three bedrooms, a large living and dining space, kitchenette and an extra guest bathroom. All rooms and suites include complimentary wi-fi. Other facilities include a swimming pool and fitness centre and a rooftop restaurant.

Ritz takes over historic Nile property

ARABIAN Construction Company (ACC) has been awarded a $90-million contract to convert the historic Nile Hilton into The Nile Ritz-Carlton. The renovation includes interior finishing and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) work scheduled to be completed in 18 months. Built in 1959, the 370-room landmark, located along the shores of the Nile and surrounded by bustling downtown Cairo will undergo extensive renovation in order to re-emerge as a full-fledged Ritz-Carlton. The project will include modernising the 13-storey hotel, owned by Misr Hotels, a subsidiary of The Holding Company for Tourism, Hotels and Cinema, that spans 64,000 sq m.

Le Meridien Amman launches loyalty card

DINERS at the Le Meridien Amman now have access to a more rewarding experience with the launch of the hotel’s Elite Card, granting holders the privilege of special offers and additional values in all six restaurants, rooms, meeting rooms, and its Health Club and Spa. Cardholders are granted unlimited usage for the period of one year, where the cardholder always dines for free, when having breakfast, lunch or dinner with a minimum of one more person, in addition to priority reservations, every time, at every restaurant. Further, they get complimentary accommodation, dining vouchers and a day pass in the Health Club and Spa with the Elite membership card.

Jumeirah opens in Park Lane London

JUMEIRAH Group will open a new concept in luxury accommodation on Park Lane in London. The Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living will offer personalised service with luxurious amenities, full business services and flexible accommodation.  Services include 24-hour concierge, daily maid, an executive boardroom, gym, 24-hour dining, secured access and Spa Illuminata At Home treatments. Located in the iconic Lutyens building, it comprises 133 apartments which range in price from £450 a night for a studio through to £11,000 for the five-bedroom penthouse. Reservations  are open, with a full opening on April 2, 2012.
