AFTER almost a year, Lufthansa German Airlines resumed its operations to Libya with three weekly flights between the two countries.  Based on expected escalating demand, Lufthansa will eventually increase capacity in the future.

“We are proud to be back in service with flights between Frankfurt and Tripoli which started on February 2. Our presence in Libya serves as a testament to our commitment in serving travel demands between our hub and Tripoli,” says Werner Kellerhals, Lufthansa’s regional general manager for North Africa, Malta and Senegal.

Lufthansa flights will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft in a two-class cabin configuration, featuring Lufthansa’s Business and Economy class. Antonio Tassone, Lufthansa’s general manager in Libya said:  “The resumption of our flights to Tripoli is a strong and important signal to Libya and western business community that we are confident to be back. As a leading European airline, Lufthansa can help and meet the demand to and from the Libyan capital. All our local staff are back to work and eager to maintain our excellent reputation in the Libyan market.”

“We are pleased to offer the superior travel comfort of a three weekly non-stop flight to our customers.  We trust that our service will delight both business and leisure travellers alike who will now have an even more efficient access to Lufthansa’s Frankfurt gateway with flights to over 200 destinations in total served by the Lufthansa Group, including its airline affiliates,” Tassone adds.

Within Lufthansa’s network alone, passengers have access to the global route network of 100 destinations in Europe and a total of 198 around the globe in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia via Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub. In addition, passengers from Tripoli intending to travel onwards to London can also opt to fly to London Gatwick served twice a day from Frankfurt.  Lufthansa also serves Aberdeen three times daily from Frankfurt.
