In January the town will play host to one of the world’s most glamorous sporting events, the St Mortiz Polo World Cup on Snow, which attracts high profile members of the jet set year on year. In addition the hotel, a destination that attracts a host of visitors from around the world in its own right, has also introduced its very own bobsleigh by which to tackle the world famous ‘Cresta Run’ – the world’s largest ice sculpture.
The St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow is the world’s most prestigious winter polo tournament, as four high-goal teams battle for the coveted trophy on the frozen surface of the St. Moritz Lake in a match that acts as the culmination of the 2011/2012 Winter Season. For those not content to simply watch from the sidelines, The Carlton Hotel has recently introduced its very own bobsleigh for use on the resort's renowned 1,722m Cresta bobsleigh run, the oldest in the world, and the only one still hand made from natural ice each winter. As well as providing an ultimate adrenaline rush as they take part in a four man bob, guests can also take pleasure in knowing that they successfully navigated the world's largest ice sculpture, with a diploma as a memento of the experience. If that is still not enough, then why not drive a snowmobile through the swirling snow on a 70 km excursion accompanied by an expert guide. Specially prepared trails from Madesimo to the Splügen pass guarantee a spectacular adventure.
