New mountain property joins Hotel Le Strato
Offering a homely atmosphere within the prime location in Courchevel 1850, the modern chalet La Residence opens its doors this winter.
Adjacent to the Hotel Le Strato, La Residence, which has just undergone a total renovation, is a true boutique property with interiors offering the height of luxury after a long day in the mountains.
Constructed over three levels and offering 170 sq m of space, the chalet is composed of two spacious suites, a vast living room and a kitchen. The two bedrooms have their own southeast facing balconies offering a constantly changing and absolutely gorgeous mountain view.
La Residence offers concierge services seven days a week, childcare, maid-service, professional massage and taxi service while guests also have access to the spa, swimming pool, hammam and saunas at parent property Le Strato.

The bedrooms reflect the external light |
La Residence aims to provide the comfort and chic of a luxury hotel, but with the atmosphere of a large residence, such as a contemporary family chalet, with a large fireplace and cosy chairs. Sporting history is the running leitmotif and large-scale black and white photos of skiers mingle with old engravings and paintings on the walls of the reception areas and bedrooms.
This combination of chic, sport and ultimate luxury is the work of the designer duo, Pierre Dubois and Aimé Cécil, better known as Les Héritiers who said: ‘The elegance of sport and its beautiful movements were our source of inspiration. We wanted our choice of materials and sizes to be as soft, luxurious and accurate as the perfect curve made by a ski in the snow’.
La Residence is the perfect complement to Le Strato which has become famed for its upmarket family atmosphere since its launch in 2009.
Named after the million-selling Strato ski, created by Laurent Boix-Vives when he was head of Rossignol, Le Strato is the brainchild of Laurent’s wife Jeannine and offers just two rooms and 23 suites, alongside La Residence, maintaining a truly boutique feel.
There are more than 70 professional staff on hand to cater to visitors’ needs and Le Strato prides itself on recognising guests’ individuality with tailor-made packages such as VIP greetings with bubbly on arrival.

The main hotel in its pristine surroundings |
The property offers everything you would expect from a top-of-the-range lodge including an 800-sq-m spa with pool, saunas, steam room, Jacuzzi, gym and treatment rooms where ski-tired muscles can be eased with a special ‘Sportif Le Strato’ massage which has been specifically designed for the hotel.
As well as the busy evening scene in Courchevel 1850, Le Strato is well equipped to provide ample après ski fun without ever leaving the hotel with bars offering events every evening and traditional mountain cuisine with a Provencal touch at the top-class restaurant.
But of course, in reality, it’s all about the white stuff and Le Strato and the new Residence are in a prime position in what is, arguably, one of the world’s best ski resorts.
Taking full advantage, the hotel has its own ski-in-ski-out floor as well as a dedicated ski room where guests can store their skis while enjoying a warming vintage beverage.
And for those interested in the heritage of the sport, there’s the chance to take a trip back in time. Those iconic Strato skis are not confined to the brilliant black and white photos, taken from the Rossignol archives, which adorn the walls, there’s the chance to borrow a re-edition set and take them for a spin.
