Glion Institute of Higher Education (GIHE) recently hosted two conferences in the UAE aimed at Hospitality Executives interested in furthering their education with an MBA Online. The famous Swiss hospitality institution is the very first to offer an Online version of its Master program.

Anouk Tenten, partnership manager for GIHE Online MBA hosted two successful events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to raise awareness among hospitality professionals of the opportunity to pursue higher education without interrupting their careers. Studying online gives a huge amount of flexibility enabling students to maintain their career and income while furthering their education. In addition, the program provides immediate benefit to the employers as students directly apply what they have learned into their everyday working environment.

The Online MBA attracts professionals working directly in the hospitality and tourism industry as well as professionals from the wider service industries such as finance, insurance, travel and real estate who want to benefit from an MBA with hospitality and services focus. Since it launched in August 2010, both industry partners and working professionals have responded enthusiastically to the program, with over 150 currently enrolled students.

Kate Buchanan M.A., program director comments: ‘’Our students bring five to 15 years of senior work experience into Glion’s virtual classroom, benefitting from an extraordinarily strong pool of executive knowledge. In just one year, we’ve seen a thriving culture of weekly debate and discussions come into existence.”

Like the regular MBA delivered on campus, where more than 90 nationalities are represented, the online program is a truly global classroom so students have the opportunity to build a great network of friends and colleagues throughout the world.

The program balances international management theory with practical case studies of real life problems within the wider service industries. The curriculum is designed so that students have the opportunity to specialize their MBA in a specific area offering three separate specializations: General Management for Service Industries, Marketing and Innovation and Asset and Revenue Management. This choice allows the studying professionals to tailor-make their MBA to suit their own career goals and aspirations. The course of studies, including an Applied Business Project, is completed in approximately two and a half years.
