IndiGo launches Delhi–Dubai

BUDGET airline IndiGo was due to become the first Indian low-cost carrier to serve the Dubai route with the launch of daily flights from Delhi to Dubai at the beginning of September.

The carrier has ambitious expansion plans with routes to Bangkok and Singapore also due to be launched this month and Muscat in October.

The airline currently operates 26 routes in India and president Aditya Ghosh has said that by winter he would like to see increased frequency on the Delhi route as well services between Dubai and Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kolkata.

He has also said that over the next few years IndiGo will be looking to expand into Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and possibly Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.
