All you could want and more

A GREAT location on The Walk, with its abundance of bars and unique shops, gives the Sofitel Dubai Jameirah Beach a distinct advantage whether you are in the city for business or pleasure.

With 438 rooms, it would be easy to lose the individual feeling but the staff here make you feel special from the moment you arrive – I was late checking in but they had taken care to settle the companion I was meeting with a drink and then made sure I was aware my guest was waiting.

The room, with its seaview balcony, came with a superbly comfortable bed and restful decor which I found very relaxing.

And just about everything I could need had been thought of from the thoughtfully stocked mini-bar to the welcoming turn-down gift.

Hérmes amenities in the bathroom were a really nice touch along with a wonderfully spacious tub – the ideal place to put my feet up after a long day walking an exhibition floor.

I loved the atmosphere in the Irish bar and was also particularly taken with the infiniti pool bar which is a sublime spot for a sundowner and the ideal place to while away the evening hours under the stars.

And it seems I am not the only one who cannot speak highly enough of the Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach’s fabulous breakfasts – since my return, several friends have agreed that this is one of the best hotel breakfasts around with a huge selection and everything piping hot and fresh.

Once again the world’s best travelled pair of trainers (they’ve been all over but only once made it into a gym) didn’t make it out of my bag but I did have time for a quick look round the impressive fitness and spa facilities.

With marina views, I can imagine even the treadmill would not be such a chore here and I was sorely tempted to try out some of the salon treatments if I had had a little more time.

In fact the Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach has just about everything you could want for a rewarding stay from its meeting facilities, which can accommodate up to 300 people, to AOC traditional French brasserie which, I’m told, is fast gaining a reputation for its Friday brunches.

Couple this with truly excellent service, beach access, shuttles to the city’s malls and the property’s proximity to The Walk and the nearby commercial areas of Media City, Internet City and Jebal Ali Free Zone , and you  really couldn’t ask for anything more.
