Zapanta brings with him experience in public relations, marketing, and eCommerce as well as revenue management. He has held various roles within the corporate world and hospitality industry in Asia and the Middle East before moving to his new position in Abu Dhabi.
Al Bustan Rotana Dubai appoints Daubenton
Al Bustan Rotana Dubai has announced Alban Daubenton as the property’s director of food and beverage. With an background in the hotel industry particularly in food and beverage, he has more than 10 years of hotel experience in various parts of the world including Cyprus, French Polynesia, Africa, the UK and France in various management roles in international hotel brands prior to joining Rotana.
New GM at Anantara’s frst resort in Vietnam
Anantara Resorts and Spa’s has announced Patrick Both as general manager for the Anantara brand’s first property in Vietnam - Anantara Mui Ne Vietnam - due to open in late 2011. Both joins the team at Mui Ne after almost two years as resident manager at Anantara’s Maldivian properties Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and its sister resort of Naladhu. He has more than ten years of hotel management experience including Movenpick Hotels in the Netherlands, Kempinski Hotels and Crowne Plaza in China and Langham Hotels in London.
The Lowry Hotel welcomes Murphy as executive head chef
The Lowry Hotel, part of Rocco Forte Hotels, has appointed Ryan Murphy as new executive chef. Murphy has a wealth of culinary experience having worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants in the US, Sweden and Austria. He has also spent time working with Alain Ducasse at Essex House and Jean-Georges Vongerichten at the Trump Tower. After 10 years, he moved to Europe to the join the team at the two Michelin-starred Schloss Velden in Austria. At The Lowry Hotel, he will putting his own spin on the menus for The River Bar and Restaurant, private dining and all meetings and events.
Shin joins Sheraton Khalidiya Hotel
Sheraton Khalidiya Hotel has recently welcomed Carly Shin, who will be the property’s new director of finance. Shin has been with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide for many years where she was responsible for the financial performance of different properties in China, South Korea and New Zealand. She has held similar positions with Sheraton, W and Westin Hotels.
Hilton Dubai Jumeirah appoints two new directors of operations
Hilton Dubai Jumeirah has appointed two new directors of operations – Boris Guerov, who will oversee the operations at the hotel, and Oliver Kesseler who will head the team at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Residence, scheduled to open later this year.
Guerov joins Hilton Dubai Jumeirah after almost two years as director of operations at The Waldorf Hilton in London, while Kesseler moves to Dubai from Bulgaria where he held the position of director of operations at Hilton Sofia for more than two years.
Lin Lin Yang appointed at The Claridges, New Delhi
Lin Lin Yang has joined The Claridges, New Delhi as master Chinese chef. In his new capacity Yang will be responsible for the menu planning and operations of Jade, Chinese restaurant. Yang’s culinary career spans across some of the finest restaurants in India and around the world. His culinary repertoire includes the famous Guangdong, Sichuan and authentic Beijing food and he has won several awards for his skills.
New GM for Anantara Phuket Villas
Anantara Resorts and Spas has announced the appointment of Andrew Turner as general manager of Anantara Phuket Villas in Thailand.
He has a wealth of resort opening and managerial experience across many different cultures.
Turner joined Anantara in 2010 as a pre opening general manager for Anantara Sanya Resort and Spa in China, previous to this he held a general manager role at Solis Lough Eske Castle in Donegal Town, Ireland.
