ILTM (International Luxury Travel Market) Asia 2011 will present a lifetime achievement award to Adrian Zecha, founder and chairman of one of the world’s most luxurious travel brands, Amanresorts.

Comprising 23 properties yet fewer than 900 rooms worldwide, Amanresorts has a staff-to-guest ratio of six to one. The first Amanresort, Amanpuri (Place of Peace) was founded in 1987 in Thailand by Indonesian born Zecha, at a time when the concept of small boutique resorts was still in its infancy.

Debbie Joslin, ILTM exhibition director commented: 'As one of the forefounders of the incredibly high levels of service that the luxury travellers of today expect, we are honoured to be presenting Adrian Zecha with the ILTM 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.'

Zecha was one of three founding partners of Regent International Hotels (RIH) in 1972 – one of Asia’s first luxury hotel groups. He was responsible for the development and financing of RIH’s hotel projects and in that capacity contributed to the company’s rapid growth into one of the world’s leading operator/owners of luxury hotels. In addition to his position at Aman Resorts, Zecha is non-executive chairman of General Hotel Management, a developer and manager of luxury hotels and resorts. n
