Air Arabia launches Dubai - Sharjah shuttle

Low-cost carrier Air Arabia has begun a regular shuttle service ‘Air Arabia Express’ between the centre of Dubai and Sharjah International Airport.

The airline will provide 20 bus services per day between the two emirates, with prices starting at just Dh10 ($2.7) each way.

The service will operate between the Flora Deluxe Hotel Apartments in Dubai, Deira, and Sharjah International Airport and will run almost 24 hours, with the Dubai-Sharjah route operating from 3am to 1am and the Sharjah-Dubai route operating from 6am to 4am.

Passengers who book online through the Air Arabia website will pay Dh10 each way while travellers can also buy tickets at Dh20 ($5.4) each way from the Sharjah International Airport sales shop and the Flora Hotel.

flydubai says salaam to Sohag

flydubai, Dubai’s first low-cost airline, has arrived in Sohag, marking its presence in one of Egypt’s emerging cultural hubs.

Sohag is the carrier’s third destination in Egypt, following Alexandria and Luxor, replacing flydubai’s Assiut route in response to consumer demand.

The service will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Emirates expands South American network

Two of South America’s most iconic cities will soon have a faster link to Dubai and more than 100 destinations worldwide when Emirates commences its daily non-stop service to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and extension to Buenos Aires, Argentina, from January 3, 2012.

“Emirates’ plans to implement services from Dubai to Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro will play an important role in increasing tourism, trade and investment between Argentina, Brazil and the UAE, in addition to the airline’s vast global network,” said Carlos Enrique Meyer, Minister of Tourism of Argentina.

New Oman Air and Bmi codeshare

Oman Air and bmi have announced a codeshare agreement that will allow Oman Air’s customers to book flights from Oman’s capital of Muscat to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Belfast or Manchester, via London Heathrow.

bmi’s customers will be able to book flights from any of the airline’s UK departure points through to Muscat.

The codeshare agreement came into effect from April 1 2011 and customers can book flights through either Oman Air or bmi outlets.

Using luxurious new Airbus A330s to operate on the route, Oman Air is the only airline to fly non-stop from the UK to Oman, departing Heathrow Terminal Three.

Qatar Airways to improve Budapest route

Qatar Airways will operate direct flights from Budapest to Doha from September 14, dropping the existing stopover in Bucharest, Romania.  The new schedule is an enhancement to the initial three times weekly schedule which commenced on January 17.

“It means that the journey time is shortened for passengers travelling from Budapest to the Middle East and enables increased options for onward connections to Asia,” said Kam Jandu, director of aviation at Budapest International Airport.

Air Arabia launches daily Kenya flights

Low-cost carrier Air Arabia, which has been operating four times per week between Nairobi and its hub in Sharjah, began a daily service to the Kenyan capital at the beginning of April.

Area manager Zaneer KP said the increasing demand for leisure lovers and families visiting Kenya as a tourist destination has prompted the increase in flights making the announcement in Sharjah during a recent road show organised by Kenya Tourist Board.
