LONG Beach, the exciting new Sun Resorts hotel development on the Belle Mare Peninsula, on the east coast of Mauritius, is getting ready for its opening this month.

Long Beach occupies 59 acres of land previously home to the GCC favourite Le Coco Beach Hotel, which was demolished in June 2009.

The new hotel has 255 rooms, all with magnificent sea views, and the architecture is resolutely contemporary while retaining the charm and relaxed atmosphere of a tropical island.

“The life-style has something of an Italian feel to it, with a central piazza, surrounded by seven restaurants and bars and by shops, adjoining an 800-m long and 40-m wide beach,” said general manager Nicolas de Chalain.

“Beyond lie the waters of the lagoon, crystal-clear here and full of rare species of coral, just waiting to be explored.”

Sun Resorts has successfully developed and managed resorts such as La Pirogue and Sugar Beach on the sunny west coast of Mauritius and Leading Hotels of the World resorts including Kanuhura in the Maldives and the legendary Le Touessrok in Mauritius. Now the group feels the market is ripe for a product such as Long Beach which is expected to appeal to the GCC traveller in the same way as its predecessor.

“Long Beach is an elegant and affable beach holiday heaven that meets the aspirations of the trendy and sophisticated consumer because of its exceptional beach side location, its unique blend of modern and tropical architecture and landscaping, upbeat atmosphere with superlative service and recreational facilities together with an array of high quality dining experiences,” said Arnaud Martin, chief marketing officer of Sun Resorts.

“Long Beach is the perfect spot for people who are looking for a trendy yet tropical hotel in a unique location; with affordable prices without compromising the superlative service. The response we have had already from trade partners from the Middle East and GCC countries for such a concept is very positive,” said Mona Faraj, managing partner of Insights Management Consultancy, the regional sales and marketing representative of Sun Resorts.
