Visas: All visitors, other than GCC nationals require a visit visa. Visitors from Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA and the Vatican City can get visit visas on arrival. This list could expand to cover around 60 countries in the near future. Check the Ministry of Interior (MoI) website for updates. Visas vary from a two-week visa on arrival, renewable for a further two weeks, to a one-month visa. These cost QR55 (approx $15) but have to be paid for on a credit card or using the country’s ‘e-card’ (which can be purchased from the Qatar National Bank desk in the arrivals hall.) Cash is not accepted.
Joint Qatar-Oman visas are issued to most tourists who are granted visas on arrival. Once you exit Qatar, you will need a new visa to re-enter, even if it is during the original validity period Visas can also be applied for online, over the Internet, when approval is given, you can then print it out. Heavy fines are imposed on visitors outstaying their visas and the amounts have to be settled before you are allowed to leave the country.
