New role for Jagersbacher

Rudi Jagersbacher has become area president, Middle East and Africa, for Hilton Worldwide, based in Dubai. Jagersbacher joined Hilton Worldwide in 1974. His career has included senior positions at the Savoy and Claridges in London and vice president roles in London, Dubai and Brussels.

 

 

 

 

Turner joins Ritz-Carlton, Dubai

Industry veteran Adam Turner has been appointed director of sales and marketing for The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai. He was previously director of travel industry sales for the London global sales office of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.  He also has extensive experience in customer relationships.

 

 

 

 

New GM at Rotana, Yas Island

Rotana has appointed Patrick Martinez as general manager of Yas Island Rotana & Centro Yas Island. Martinez has 20 years of experience in the hotel industry on three continents. He held his first position as general manager at the age of 28 years and served for 13 years with the Marriott Group.

 

 

 

 

Hardt moves to Ritz-Carlton Qatar

Claudia Hardt has been appointed director of public relations of The Ritz-Carlton Hotels of Qatar. She is responsible for the regional and international communications and public relations efforts of The Ritz-Carlton, Doha and Sharq Village & Spa.

 

 

 

 

Moutte for Tripoli

Marriott International’s first hotel in Libya, the JW Marriott Hotel Tripoli has appointed Gerald Moutte, as general manager.  A Marriott veteran, Moutte has previously been general manager at properties including the Courtyard by Marriott Kuwait City & Arraya Ballroom, Kuwait.

 

 

 

 

Shawkat for Grand Hyatt Doha

The Grand Hyatt Doha has appointed Sameh Shawkat as executive assistant manager for sales and marketing.  Shawkat was most recently the regional director of sales in the Middle East for Hyatt.

 

 

 

 

Harb joins Fujairah Rotana

The Fujairah Rotana Resort and Spa has welcomed Samer Harb as the new director of business development. Harb started his hospitality career with Rotana in Sharjah and brings with him a wide range of expertise in the field of sales and business development.

 

 

 

 

El Sherif for V Five Continents

 

V Five Continents Hospitality Group, has appointed Tarek Elsherif as managing director. Prior to this assignment, he served as regional director of sales and marketing at Millennium Hotels in the Mena region. Elsherif’s has previously managed properties such as Forte Grand Pyramids in Egypt.

 

 

 

 

 
 

Zuccarini joins Doha Marriott

 

The Doha Marriott Hotel has appointed Tina Zuccarini as director of spa and recreation. After starting her career in Austria, she managed an exclusive spa belonging to the Grand Hotels group – Quellenhof in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. In 2002, she moved to head the spa at the Doha Marriott Gulf Hotel in Doha, before moving to South Africa.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lotfy at Al Nawras

 

Tarek Lotfy has been appointed as the new general manager of Al Nawras Hotel Apartments, Dubai. Lotfy takes charge from his previous role as regional revenue director for Golden Tulip Hotels-Inns-Resorts Mena. Lotfy has also worked with Le Meridien Hotels.

 

 

 

 

 

Le Royal Meridien appoints Crockett

 

Le Royal Meridien Hotel Abu Dhabi has appointed Shannon Crockett as its new public relations manager. Having moved to the UAE in December 2009, Crockett served in his previous role as manager and promoter of PJ O’Reilly’s Irish Pub at Le Royal Meridien Hotel Abu Dhabi.

 

 

 

 

 

 

New GM at Coral

 

Coral Hotels & Resorts has appointed Birthe Bolz as general manager of its Coral Boutique Hotel Apartments Dubai. Bolz returns to Dubai from Egypt where she headed the opening sales and marketing taskforce at the Dusit Thani Lakeview Cairo.

 

 

 

 

May Fair welcomes Lee

 

Anthony Lee has joined the management team of the luxurious May Fair Hotel as general manager. Lee previously spent nearly 31 years at the Connaught Hotel and was part of the property’s extensive re-birth.

 

 

 

 

New management at Safi

 

Safi Airways, Afghanistan’s leading airline, has appointed a new senior management team. Michael McTighe (pictured) joins as COO, John Roijen as CFO, and Mohammad Al Hayek as deputy COO. McTighe has previously worked with Ryanair, Britannia Airways and Air Atlanta Europe.

 

 

 

 

Hesse takes Dubai post

 

Franck Hesse has been appointed as director of sales and marketing for IHG properties including the InterContinental Dubai Festival City, Al Badia Golf Club by InterContinental Dubai Festival City, InterContinental Residence Suites Dubai Festival City and Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City.
