MILLENNIUM & Copthorne (M&C) has soft opened a waterfront resort overlooking the Gulf of Oman.

The Millennium Resort Mussanah features 234 guestrooms and 74 fully-furnished apartments, ranging from studios to two-bed duplexes - all with high speed internet access and in room media hubs – as well as meeting and conference facilities and a choice of cosmopolitan restaurants.

The resort is the first hotel in Oman by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and the group’s ninth in the region following sister hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Kuwait.

M&C recently unveiled plans for another 7,400 rooms representing another 24 hotels in the region, including Iraq – the largest number of rooms in the pipeline within the Middle East and North Africa.

“As the region continues its rapid rate of growth, business and leisure tourism to Oman is expected to grow tremendously,” said Will Blake, director of sales and marketing at Millennium Resort Mussanah. “With that in mind, the hotel is poised to take advantage of the boom by focusing our strategy on the Mice sector where we can offer state of the art conference and banqueting facilities to our corporate clients.”

In its first phase, the Mussanah hotel will offer four different themed food and beverage outlets all with outdoor terrace seating overlooking the private marina.

Water sport activities at Oman Sail and Oman Charter will be the main attractions to guests, with a wide range of facilities such as sailing programmes, diving, snorkelling, dolphin watching and chartering of various luxurious boats moored on the marina.

Phase two of the resort emphasises the recreational facilities of the property and is expected to be completed in time for the high travel season in September 2011.

The facilities being built are a health club and gym, spa with pool facility, kids’ club and pool, infinity leisure swimming pool, tennis courts, crazy golf pitch and putt and food and beverage restaurants supporting the recreational area.
