Gulf Air won the Travel Agents’ Choice Award at the World Travel Market exhibition held in London from November 8 to 11. The award was presented by Martin Steady, managing director from BMI Publications to the airline’s commercial manager UK & Ireland, Christina Vidos, from the London office.
The newly opeend Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel welcomed its first guest marking the soft opening of the 392-room business and leisure luxury hotel. General manager Scott Butcher and a group of associates received guest Mr Purewal with soft drinks and refreshing towels.
Oman Air recently opened its new passenger sales agency in Pattaya, Thailand, its second office in the country after Bangkok. The launch was attended by Ronakit Ekasingh, deputy mayor of Pattaya City, and Rattanachai Suttidachanai, chairman of the tourism and sports committee, who congratulated Ahmed Hazeem Al Balushi, district sales manager, Oman Air, Thailand on the occasion.
More than 40 guests and staff of the Sharm el Sheikh Marriott Red Sea Resort teamed up with 20 professional divers from the resort’s Mr Diver Diving Centre and the non-profit organisation Project Aware of PADI International on an all-day programme called Underwater Clean Up Day on Na’ama Bay, South Sinai.The event was part of the hotel’s on-going environmental initiative at the hotel Know & Protect the Red Sea.

More than 30 industry professionals from the UAE’s travel trade spent an educational day in the outdoors with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity to tourism and the role of sustainable tourism. Led by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority to celebrate World Tourism Day 2010, the group visited Khor Kalba which is soon to be developed into a new tourist attraction on Sharjah’s East coast.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Raffles Dubai hosted a Pink Day at Raffles Spa which generated Dh14,033 ($3,820) for the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness Programme. Grammy award-winning producer Jermaine Dupri held a private reception on the terrace of Red Lounge to promote the initiative. With overwhelming community support, Raffles Spa generated Dh14,033 in treatment revenue. In addition, Raffles Dubai sponsored 85 colleagues for the annual Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness walk raising an additional Dh4,250 ($1,157).
