Mena Travel Awards put on hold

THE Mena Travel Awards have been postponed for the second year running with organiser Dr Sam Saker saying this will allow time for the economy to recover.

Dr Saker recently released a statement saying: ‘In view of the lingering economic crisis worldwide, and specifically in the Mena region, which has greatly reflected on our region’s companies and investors, as well as individuals, we once again had a serious look at the state of affairs and have had to make tough decisions.

‘Being a non-profit event, which is conducted with nothing but passion, after careful consideration of the economic conditions and after discussions with many of you, our Mena colleagues, we felt it would be more appropriate to postpone the seventh annual ceremony until 2012.’ The statement continued that this would allow time for economic recovery and would allow on-hold projects to be up and running.
