A RECENT business trip to Kuwait showed the JW Marriott to be an ideal hotel to stay and work from.
Security on arrival is standard in Kuwait hotels but I found the welcome warm as the security staff helped with getting my bags through the checks and at registration I was met with a smiling face behind the desk.
Check-in was fast and thorough with the receptionist even inquiring about my return transport to the airport and friendliness seemed the order of the day with banter between fellow guests and another receptionist revealing this to be the norm.
On entering my room, I found a good-sized space with work desk and free internet access. For me free internet is always a big plus on any business trip as it allows you to follow up on meetings rather than have them hanging over you on your return.

The most welcome sight, however, was the famous Marriott bed, designed especially for Marriott Hotels. I had just finished a three-day trip in Bahrain with more than 20 meetings and it took all I had to get out of that bed the following morning!
I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the many choices of restaurants at the hotel which include Kei Japanese and Terrace Grill for those steak lovers, but I did experience La Brasserie International which offered a buffet for breakfast and lunch with a wide variety of choice that would suit any guest’s pallet.
When on business, even with today’s technology including blackberry’s and IPhones, you may still find yourself needing an office away from the office and, on one of the mornings, I needed to scan a document to send to my office. It was very early in the morning, therefore the business center wasn’t manned but all it took was a phone call to reception and someone was with me in minutes to help. This really impressed as I was on my way to another meeting and this quick response meant I was not delayed.
With its location, business facilities, food and beverage offerings, warm staff and connections to a shopping centre, I would recommend the JW Marriott Kuwait Hotel to anyone with Kuwait as a business destination.
