InterContinental Hotels & Resorts will open InterContinental Penang Resort in December 2026, marking the brand’s first resort in Malaysia.
Located on the quieter shores of Teluk Bahang between rainforest, coastline and the Andaman Sea, the resort will offer 348 rooms and suites alongside Club InterContinental, four restaurants, Gemala Spa and family facilities.
The resort will focus on experiences rooted in Penang’s cultural and culinary heritage, with design inspired by the island’s natural landscape.
Dining venues will include Sulam,
featuring Peranakan cuisine, Italian restaurant Paradiso, Nikkei
concept Shinka and oceanfront venue Coastal.
Gemala Spa will offer wellness treatments influenced by Penang’s multicultural traditions, while families will have access to Planet Trekkers Kids Club and a teen games room.
The property will also feature event and meeting facilities, including a Grand Ballroom and outdoor lawns.
Jeffrey Seward, General Manager of
InterContinental Penang Resort, said: “What makes this resort special
is the way Penang reveals itself through every part of the
stay.”
The opening will expand InterContinental’s presence
in Southeast Asia and bring its luxury offering to one of
Malaysia’s most culturally distinctive destinations. -TTN
