Egypt's Tourism Minister, Dr Mamdouh El Beltagui, has said that the new Crowne Plaza Resort Sharm El Sheikh is a shining example of how to attract more tourism to the country.

Dr El Beltagui officially inaugurated the first new Crowne Plaza Resort in the Middle East and Africa this century at a glittering opening ceremony last month.

"This is an exciting development which meets the needs of leisure travellers in this important resort destination in the region," he said.

Built over a 250,000 square metre site sloping gently towards the sea in El Pacha Bay, and within 10 minutes of the airport, the Crowne Plaza Resort Sharm El Sheikh is an impressive property, giving magnificent views over the renowned Far Garden coral reef.

With 329 deluxe rooms, the resort also features one and two bedroom apartments and villas for rent.

Meanwhile, the former Petra Forum Hotel in Jordan has been rebranded and opened as the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra following a multi-million dollar renovation programme spanning almost three years.

The Crowne Plaza Resort Petra is located adjacent to the entrance of the world famous archaeological site of Petra, which dates back approximately 3,000 years.
