Gaming and esports will reach new heights in Dubai with the Dubai Esports and Games Festival (DEF) 2025, running from 25 April to 11 May.
This fourth edition features a full schedule of competitions, advanced gaming technology, and the latest industry trends. Organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), DEF aims to foster innovation and investment in the sector while boosting Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and strengthening its reputation as a global hub for business and digital entertainment.

Popular features making a return include the GameExpo event, GameExpo Summit, Dubai Cosplay Championship, and Play Beyond. Attendees can engage in citywide tournaments and educational challenges. DEF 2025 seeks to redefine the gaming landscape with its engaging programming for fun-seekers, casual gamers, and esports competitors. GameExpo, the festival’s main event, takes place from 9 to 11 May at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Zabeel Halls 2 and 3, allowing fans to meet gaming heroes and explore eight themed gaming zones, which include high-stakes esports tournaments and retro experiences.
The event features a Family Zone with activities for families and two new zones: The Quest offering real-life challenges and the Just Dance Zone with live competitions. The Main Arena hosts competitive games, while The Narrows marketplace showcases exclusive merchandise.
Play Beyond highlights come on 10 and 11 May, with regional influencers and esports pros competing for the Play Beyond trophy.
GameExpo will display advanced gaming tech from various partners and welcome notable attractions like The Vintage Company's collectible showcase and Haribo's candy cart.
Early bird tickets are on sale, including discounts for students and families, and special tickets for exclusive meet-and-greets are available.
The Dubai Cosplay Championship invites cosplayers to showcase their talents on 11 May, with cash prizes up for grabs. A unique educational program offers students and educators a chance to participate in dynamic esports and gaming experiences on 8 May.
New initiatives like the Game Quest Express mobile truck and Cool Career Talks engage students with exciting competitions and discussions about gaming careers.
