Khorfakkan Amphitheatre project work nearing completion

Sharjah authorities said final touches were being given to the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre coming up on a 400,000 sq ft area in the emirate. Being developed as a tourist hub, it will feature a walkway overlooking the beach, a skating rink and picnic areas.

Sharjah authorities said steady progress is being made on the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre project coming up on a 400,000 sq ft area in the emirate. 
 
It is being developed by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), in two phases and will be implemented in cooperation with the Sharjah Directorate of Public Works and Khorfakkan Municipality.
 
The Phase One covers the south side of the beach, and includes the construction of an amphitheatre, a walkway overlooking the beach, a skating rink, sport courts, picnic areas, and children's playing area.
 
HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, today (November 22) inspected the Amphitheatre project site as well as several other development and vital projects in the city of Khorfakkan.
 
The development project is inclusive of the redevelopment of phase 1 of Khorfakkan Beach located in Sharjah. 
 
Beside the amphitheater, it will boast a walkway overlooking the beach, a skating rink, sports courts, picnic zone, and kids playing area, restaurants, cafes, beachfront retail outlets and gardens that reflect Islamic architecture, showers, bathrooms and changing rooms facilities.
 
Sheikh Sultan inspected the progress of recent works and final finishes of the Amphitheatre project, inspecting the different seating places and facilities. He was received by Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Initiatives Implementation and Infrastructure Development Authority in Sharjah.
 
Following this, the Sharjah ruler visited Al Rafisah Dam, inspected the place, and directed the addition of shaded family gathering spots, as well as barbecue sites.
 
He also directed the authorities to add more parking lots and toilets at Al Rafisah Dam, and the establishment of a mountain path linking the current parking lots and Al Rafisa water channel.
 
The project will also have leisure facilities such as a restaurant, café and games area, in order to ensure the highest levels of comfort and entertainment for the visitors of the place.-TradeArabia News Service
