Wolfgang Maier, general manager of Hilton Abu Dhabi, took home the coveted ‘General Manager of the Year’ award at the 2014 Hilton Worldwide Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) conference, held in Dubai recently.
The award recognises all-round outstanding performance for those who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills coupled with professional expertise and innovation – both within the hotel and as part of the local community. With over 40 years industry experience, Wolfgang is a seasoned hospitality professional with a wealth of global experience having led Hilton Worldwide hotel teams in China, Europe, Australia, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia before joining Hilton Abu Dhabi in 2011. This latest personal honour is the more remarkable as he was selected ahead of more than 350 hotel industry professionals from Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of hotels in Europe, Middle East & Africa. On receiving the award, Wolfgang Maier said: “It is truly an honour to be recognised by so many of my colleagues so this is a tremendously proud moment for me, both professionally and personally. I look forward now to sharing this achievement with my team members at Hilton Abu Dhabi whose on-going dedication and support no doubt played a significant role in my nomination for this important award.”
