French joins Raffles Dubai

Raffles Dubai has appointed Peter French as general manager. A seasoned hotelier he has managed prestigious hotels including the Carlyle, New York and Grosvenor House Hotel, London. Most recently, he led the renovation and repositioning of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong.

 

 

 

 

New MD at Rocco Forte Collection

The Rocco Forte Collection has appointed Karim Naffah as managing director. Naffah, who brings with him 18 years of experience in strategy and finance roles in the leisure and hospitality industry, has been a consultant to the company since July 2009.

 

 

 

 

Kacou appointed at Mövenpick

Roger Kacou has joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ executive committee for Africa. Kacou will drive the success of Mövenpick’s existing portfolio in Africa, in addition to developing new destinations across the region. Previously, he has held regional roles with the InterContinental Hotels Group.

 

 

 

 

Jarosch for Anantara, Oman

Anantara Hotels has appointed Axel Jarosch as general manager of Anantara Al Madina A’Zarqa Resort & Spa, Oman set to open early 2011. Jarosch has worked with various leading brands and was most recently general manager at Desert Palm, Dubai.

 

 

 

 

 

CHI welcomes Nijhof

CHI Hotels & Resorts, operator of the luxury Corinthia brand as well as the Wyndham and Ramada Plaza, has appointed Marco Nijhof as chief operating officer.

He was previously senior VP of the Kuwaiti Commercial Real Estate Center Company, overseeing five-star hotel investments.

 

 

 

New role for Van Gool

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Georges Van Gool as director of sales – corporate. Van Gool joined Rezidor in 2002 as sales representative for the Radisson SAS Palais, Vienna and then rejoined the hotel in 2005 before moving to the Holiday Inn Vienna South, his most recent position.

 

 

 

 

New GM at Corp Al Barsha

Heading up the new team at the Corp Executive Hotel Apartments – Al Barsha – Dubai as general manager is Aamir Pervez, previously regional sales director with the management company, HMH (Hospitality Management Holdings). Pervez joined HMH in 2006 in sales.

 

 

 

 

Oryx Rotana announces team

Oryx Rotana, Doha, has welcomed Kevork Deldelian (pictured) as general manager. Ursula Chidiac is executive assistant manager, Lisa Tahabsem is director of marketing and communications, Gabriele Ferola is director of sales and Dominique Jossi is director of food and beverage with Rainer Muller as executive chef.

 

 

 

 

R Hotels appoints Kolb

R Hotels, which owns manages and operates hotel properties and serviced apartments, has appointed Martin Kolb as its vice president.

Kolb will oversee the two directly owned properties – Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman and Ramada Downtown Dubai as well as managing the company’s growth.

 

 

 

 

McFall joins World Trade Centre

Novotel & Ibis World Trade Centre Dubai has announced Christopher McFall as director of sales and marketing.

McFall moves to Dubai from his position as director of sales for Guoman’s Charing Cross, London and Grosvenor hotels where he oversaw sales and business development.

 

 

 

Safir International promotes Ibrahim

Safir Hotels & Resorts has announced the promotion of Mohamed Ibrahim as executive assistant manager of the Safir Marina Hotel, Kuwait, from his previous role as director of sales and marketing. He has also worked with various other leading groups.

 

 

 

 

New role for Shehadeh

The Landmark Amman Hotel & Conference Centre has promoted Eihab Shehadeh to director of sales and marketing from his previous role as assistant director of sales and marketing. He has more than 15 years experience in the hospitality industry having worked with several leading properties.

 

 

 

 

New GM at Kempinski Nile

Fuat Koroglu has taken charge as general manager at the new Kempinski Nile Hotel in Cairo. Koroglu was formerly executive assistant manager at the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. He has also worked with Swissotel, The Bosphorus and the Ciragan Palace.

 

 

 

 

Golf club gets new GM

Saadiyat Beach Golf Club has appointed Ray Manulat as its new general manager.

With nearly 20 years experience and a 10-year Troon Golf veteran, Manulat was formerly general manger of the 18-hole Alpensia 700 Resort and 27-hole Alpensia Golf & Country Club in Korea.

 

 

 

 

Emirates appoints VP Australasia

Emirates has announced the appointment of Barry Brown as its vice president for Australasia. He will be responsible for Emirates’ commercial operations in both Australia and New Zealand.

He was previously chief commercial officer with Oman Air and has worked with SriLankan Airlines.

 

 

 

Rajagopal steps up

Hilton Abu Dhabi has announced the appointment of a new director of conference and events, Leena Rajagopal.
Rajagopal, has been working for Hilton Hotels & Resorts since 2006 and joined the conference and events team at Hilton Abu Dhabi in 2008.

 

 

 

 

Beveridge appointed at Grand Hyatt

Grand Hyatt Dubai has announced the appointment of John Beveridge as general manager and area director for Dubai. Beveridge joined the Hyatt family in 1982 at Hyatt Regency Dubai. He has since worked across various Hyatt properties in Riyadh, Borneo, Singapore and Korea.

 

 

 

 

Asher for One to One Hotel

The One to One Hotel – The Village, Abu Dhabi has announced Jessica Asher as its new marketing and communications manager.

She re-locates from Oman where she was with United Media Services as business development officer for its events arm and later with Fortune Promoseven, Oman.

 

 

 

New appointments at Chedi Muscat

The Chedi Muscat has announced the appointment of Andy Kunz (pictured) as executive assistant manager. Kunz was formerly director of food and beverage for Four Seasons Hotel Amman.
And Simone Broekhaar joins the hotel as director of sales and marketing.

 

 

 

 

Travelport KSA appoints Azzee

Travelport has announced the appointment of Faris Azzee as its new general manager for Saudi Arabia. Azzee was previously country manager for the UAE, where he played a key role in leading the company’s transition into a direct GDS operation for travel agents.
