Notes from the US via British Airways

TTN publishing director Kim Thomson chose BA on a recent bleisure (business+leisure) trip to the United Kingdom and the US, putting the reputation of Club World to test. Here are the top notes from her long-haul Club World experience:

Arriving at Dubai International Airport early, I was through check in and security, hitting Duty Free shopping within 15 minutes. More time to plan the week ahead!

The lounge is open to British Airways’ First and Club World (business class) customers as well as Silver and Gold Executive Club members, and can get busy sometimes. But in terms of hot and cold food and beverage options as well as relaxing ambiance, very impressive.

As it was a daytime flight, I didn’t really sleep, but the seat does feature a “z” position, which supports the knees and back when inclined, ideal for me to read my book and do Sudoko as well as watch the in-flight entertainment.

How cool is the storage drawer that can be reached from the seat to place laptop, handbag, books, very thoughtful. Another great add is the revolutionary privacy screen that can be electronically controlled to ensure one-way viewing. Ideal if you want privacy from the passenger traveling next to you, or very useful if you have had a fight with your better half!

Connections to the US and in my case, Washington DC from Dubai are seamless leaving plenty of time in-between connections to window-shop and enjoy one of BA’s six dedicated lounges in Terminal 5. Special note on crew. On all sectors on this trip the crew where helpful, friendly and ready to serve, but the crew from London to Dubai were exceptional.
