Al Bidiya mosque

Fujairah may be mostly known for its beautiful beaches but the emirate is also home to the UAE’s oldest mosque where miracles are said to happen.

Al Bidiya mosque is a traditionally-built, mud-brick structure thought to be more than 560 years old making it the oldest place of worship in the UAE, which is still in regular use.

From the outside the mosque is humble-looking but inside worshippers say their prayers are answered and even healing miracles can happen drawing both Muslims and non-Muslims to the site.
The village is also the location of ruins dating back more than 4,000 years as well as ancient burial grounds.

The village of Bidiya lies just north of Fujairah city, along the coast and off the main highway between Khor Fakkan and Dibba.

The site was restored and officially inaugurated in March 2003 by the Dubai Municipality and the Fujairah Department of Archaeology and Heritage.
