The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has opened applications for LanD 2027 Training on Cultural Landscapes Documentation, an international programme aimed at strengthening expertise in documenting cultural landscapes as dynamic, living systems.
Co-organised with the CHEDAR project, the programme is being
delivered in collaboration with ICOMOS International Scientific Committees, the
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and other international
heritage organisations. It is the first training programme of its kind in the
region to focus on the holistic documentation of cultural landscapes.
Twenty heritage professionals from across the Middle East
and North Africa will be selected to participate.
The programme includes online introductory courses from
January to April 2027, followed by on-site training in Al Ain from 26 April to
5 May 2027.
Participants will explore integrated, people-centred and
nature-culture approaches that combine traditional knowledge with advanced
documentation technologies.
The programme will examine both tangible and intangible
elements shaping cultural landscapes, using Al Ain’s Hili Oasis as a practical
case study.
The training is designed for early- to mid-career
professionals working across fields including architecture, landscape
architecture, urban planning, archaeology, heritage conservation, geography,
GIS, environmental sciences, anthropology and heritage management.
Applicants should hold a relevant bachelor’s degree and have
three to five years of professional heritage experience. Applications close on October
15.
DCT Abu Dhabi said the initiative supports its wider
commitment to protecting and promoting cultural heritage by developing the
expertise needed for sustainable conservation and heritage management. -TradeArabia News Service
