FIRST-time participant Shangri-La Hotels will be showcasing a property where ‘paradise comes to life’ at Boracay Resort and Spa, the first international deluxe resort on Boracay Island in the Philippines.
The resort is situated on a hillside in a flourishing nature reserve on the northern part of the island, 10 minutes’ drive from the colourful markets and bustle of popular White Beach.
Boracay’s pristine beaches of powder-soft sand and crystal waters are regularly named among the world’s best and the island is a 45-minute flight south of Manila, with a 30-minute private land-and-sea transfer between Caticlan airport and the resort.
The 12-hectare resort encompasses 219 rooms, including 36 villas and suites, comprehensive leisure facilities, 350 m of secluded beach front and a thriving ecosystem of diverse, even rare, flora and fauna.
Deluxe rooms measure 60 sq m, all with balconies and commanding sea views.
Villas are butler-serviced retreats with a minimum 108 sq m and private plunge pools, whirlpools or pergolas for al fresco dining. Eleven tree top villas have a fabulous view of the sea, the sunset and private Jacuzzi on the second level of each villa.
The resort’s varied dining options make it a favoured destination for those who have a taste for fine food and drink. Seafood restaurant, Sirena, offers fresh favourites from a cliff top overlooking the sea while the Solana Sunset Bar is the hub of activity after dark and Rima.
Guests looking to soothe their travel-weary senses will find their sanctuary in Chi, The Spa at Shangri-La which is situated in a spa village of nearly 6,000 sq m on a rocky peninsula overlooking a private bay.
The resort’s recreational facilities include a health club, one of the country’s largest free-form swimming pools, a marine centre, a water sports pavilion and two outdoor tennis courts.
An entertainment centre and adventure zone for adults and children alike offers everything from giant slides, to the latest video games to a state-of-the-art karaoke system in sleek private rooms.
