The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) celebrated it fifth anniversary at the beginning of April with chairman Maurice Loustau-Lalanne paying tribute to his staff and urging them to continue their good work in developing the Seychelles tourism product and in promoting it.
Lalanne said that STB has achieved a lot during its five years of existence and there are many occasions which have marked the country’s history.
“As we celebrate this milestone, let us take stock and pride in what we do in this unique phenomenon that we call tourism,” he said. “We have done well in the areas for which we are responsible and we have played our part to coordinate and collaborate in the development of tourism in Seychelles.”
Lalanne continued that over the last five years, tourism has experienced various setbacks but, through it all, the industry has demonstrated a remarkable resilience and always come out stronger and healthier.
“Indeed resilience has become synonymous with our industry and our staff who continue to work and give their best to ensure that tourism succeeds. To all my staff, those in the front line and others who served in the solitude of their offices, I direct my warmest gratitude.”
Mr Lalanne explained that STB had a very crucial role to play in tourism development as it was the regulatory body and it had a very important responsibility to ensure a positive environment for tourism growth.
Lalanne told his staff that there are more challenges ahead but they are now better placed to deliver. He took the opportunity to call on all tourism stakeholders to join the team in turning the Seychelles tourism product into an attractive one which can be better marketed overseas.
