Al Zaabi...degree plans

HORIZON International Flight Academy (HIFA) is continuing to expand its training programmes to support the local and regional aviation industry with undergraduate courses planned by 2016.

The academy’s general manager, Mohammed Humaidan Al Zaabi said: “Though our primary focus is to offer high-standard flight training for military, corporate and civil customers and to fill the gap for helicopter training across the Middle East, we strive to constantly expand our training courses.

“In fact by 2016, we aim to offer undergraduate degree programmes in the field of aviation, providing internationally certified qualifications in the UAE to ensure that we develop a pipeline of local talent to support the region’s rapidly growing aviation industry.”

Currently chosen by Etihad Airways as the flight training facility for its cadet programme, the academy, which is wholly owned by Mubadala Development Company, also provides courses for private, commercial and air transport pilot licences as well as flight instructor courses, using Bell helicopters and Cessna aeroplanes.

With a multinational team of instructors Horizon combines the knowledge and expertise of professionals who have been in the aviation industry for many years to offer safe, skilled and high-quality flight instruction.
