The very best of Britain’s travel and tourism offerings will be on full display at this year’s World Travel Market exhibition, says a Gulf-based representative with the country’s tourism board, VisitBritain.
VisitBritain will exhibit this year under the theme ‘Best of British Film and Theatre.’
The theme was selected to highlight the increasing role that Britain is playing as a premier destination for filming, as well as for the performing arts.
“World Travel Market is new and exciting each year, with new suppliers showcasing just how dynamic Britain has become, and existing suppliers presenting new and alternative ways to enjoy classic Britain,” said VisitBritain’s Middle East marketing manager, Carol Maddison.
Staged annually in London, World Travel Market is a vibrant, must-attend, four-day business-to-business event presenting a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors to UK and international travel professionals.
VisitBritain is responsible for promoting Britain as a world class tourist destination and for developing England’s visitor economy. It has representatives in 36 countries around the world and has expanded into India, China, throughout Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia.
Figures for 2007 indicate there were 32.8million visits to Britain, up 0.2 per cent on 2006.
They spent £16billion in the UK: a 0.3 per cent decrease on 2006.
Every year over 12 million visits are made by international consumers to the 46 websites that make up VisitBritain’s global family of websites, which together provide information in 26 different languages.
Trade attendees can visit VisitBritain at UKI1700.
