2009 a good year to travel

DUBAI based specialist tour operator Africa Connection’s biggest challenge for 2009 is, according to managing director Judy Fell, “being one step ahead of what the customer is looking for, which includes excellent product knowledge, service, delivery and of course price.”
Bookings from the Middle East to their African destinations will see customers wanting more value for money than in previous years, if not a reduced price.  “This is going to be a good year to travel. There will be supply, and the prices will be lower than last year,” said Fell.
Africa Connection’s bookings were as expected. “January is always quiet after the December holiday rush, and we are on par with expected business this month.  Queries and bookings for the next season have started coming in at a steady pace,” she said.
Most of the company’s bookings come via referrals from past clients. The company creates holidays for many destinations in Africa. Says Fell, “East Africa is popular. It is an easy destination from the Middle East for a long weekend safari, and is serviced by most airlines from this region.  South Africa is also a favourite, followed by Botswana and Victoria Falls.”
A road show is scheduled for October 2009 in Dubai.
