Briton John Balfour has won a Dh1.3 million ($345,000) smart home at Dubai's prestigious Dubai Marina development.
The home was offered as the grand prize in the "Win a-Home" promotion held by the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) during the 10-week-long Dubai Summer Surprises which ended on August 31. The promotion was open to shoppers spending Dh200 at any of the 20 participating malls. Balfour, who is the head of pest control at Dubai Municipality, said he received the winning coupon when he bought a ring for his wife from the Emirates Boulevard for her birthday. "I have always believed that Dubai is a place where amazing things can happen, and winning this dream home proves it," said Balfour who has lived in Dubai for the past 14 years.
