Special theme nights and special summer rates have been lined up by the five-star Algosaibi Hotel for visitors to Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia.

Algosaibi is the first five-star property in Al Khobar built during the hey days of the oil boom in 1973.

Over the years, it has built a reputation for its high quality of service and standards and hosts major royal banquets in the area at its multi-purpose function and meeting rooms, the largest in the Eastern province and capable of accommodating more than 2,000 people.

This summer, there is an emphasis on the family with special weekend fun nights at the poolside on Thursday and a family brunch complete with big screen cartoon shows on Friday at the Oasis Coffee Shop.

Until September 1, the hotel is offering special discounted rates of SR270 ($72) for single room, SR350 for a double room, SR520 for a suite and SR30 for an extra person in the room.

The Algosaibi Hotel has 301 bedrooms and 32 suites. There are two restaurants, the Lina Roof Top with a view of city and the Arabian Gulf and the 24-hour Oasis Coffee Shop. The hotel also provides 24-hour room service.

"The Leisure Centre features three floodlit tennis court, an Olympic size pool, a 12-lane bowling center, gymnasium and games room," said a hotel spokesman.

"All rooms offer individual climate control, satellite television, direct dial phones and a refrigerator and mini-bar."

A well-equipped businesss centre and conference facilities has made Algosaibi a popular meetings venue in Al Khobar. The Samah Banquet Hall provides 1,600 square metres of pillar free space purpose built to host major conventions and weddings in the province.

Access is via an elaborate newly added entrance in addition to a permanent eight feet vehicle ramp door.

The hotel also has three other banquet and meeting rooms - Ambassador, Imperial and Royal - which provide 325 sq m of free space each and can accommodate up to 200 people in fixed theatre style seating.

A fourth Pearl of the Gulf Conference Room consists of a reception area and the main conference room, which can seat up to 200 people and is fully equipped with sound and lighting system making it ideal for hosting seminars or presentations with stage and giant screen.

The Pool Conference Hall overlooking the swimming pool offers 545 sq m of conference and banquet space while the smaller Waffa Lounge is suited for small meetings, training courses or private luncheons and dinners.

The hotel theme nights are a special attraction offering a Businessmen's Lunch on Saturday and Sunday, a Fish Market on Tuesday and family fun at the weekend. Children are offered a 50 per cent discount.
