InterContinental Dubai - The Heart of Europe

Kleindienst Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts have revealed the new design for InterContinental Dubai – The Heart of Europe, a 466-key luxury family resort set to open on Dubai’s World Islands in winter 2027. The redesign, led by HWKN Architecture, introduces a pioneering Teflon-coated fibreglass mesh façade that moves with the wind, creating a dynamic architectural statement inspired by Italian coastal towns.

The resort will feature three wings — Bellissima, Dolce Vita and Felicità — offering sea-facing rooms and branded Portofino Residences. Interiors draw from weathered elegance of Mediterranean coastal towns, blending grandeur with intimacy. Nine dining venues will celebrate Italian gastronomy, including two fusion concepts marrying Italian and Asian flavours.

Family-focused amenities include Kingdom of Portofino, a Montessori-inspired children’s club, La Donna ladies’ spa, a Snow Room, and a 700-metre private beach. The lobby will feature 514 aquariums, underscoring the resort’s immersive design ethos.

Josef Kleindienst, Chairman of Kleindienst Group, described the transformation as “experiential hospitality” designed to create lasting emotional connections. IHG’s Haitham Mattar called it a milestone for the brand’s regional portfolio, while HWKN’s Matthias Hollwich highlighted the use of AI-enhanced design to merge European lifestyle with Dubai’s luxury spirit.

The property marks the first InterContinental Resort in Dubai and sets a new benchmark for family hospitality in the region.
