Hilton have announced the signing of an agreement to operate a brand new, 272-room, four-star hotel at Canary Wharf, London, due to open in early 2006.

The hotel will form part of the new Discovery Dock development by the Capital & Provident group.

The Hilton London Canary Wharf will cater to the corporate market in the area, featuring 10 meeting rooms, and one conference room capable of hosting events for up to 380 delegates.

A Caffé Cino real coffee outlet in the lobby will compliment a full-service restaurant and bar on the ground floor, with the fully-fitted LivingWell leisure club available to both guests and LivingWell members.

The site itself, including two blocks of stylish residential apartments currently under construction and selling well, is centrally located, adjacent to South Quay DLR and linked to Canary Wharf and the Jubilee Line station by footbridge.

Wolfgang M Neumann, area president for Hilton UK & Ireland, said: “Hilton is looking forward to opening this new hotel in one of London’s most vibrant corporate areas.  The growth in occupied office space, combined with the extension of the Docklands Light Railway to London City Airport and the increase in passenger routes and numbers, are all contributing to an increasing demand for hotel accommodation and meetings & conference space for the corporate market in the area.”

Sunny Crouch of Discovery Dock, and former director of the London Docklands Development Corporation, commented: “We are delighted that Hilton are to open a hotel at Discovery Dock.  The Hilton name is recognised throughout the world as a byword for quality and fits perfectly with the Discovery Dock development.  The residential element of the scheme is currently under construction.”
