Preparations are well under way for Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF) 2003, which will take place from September 16 to 18 at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Cairo, Egypt.

Attendance figures from last year’s MTF rose across the board for trade visitors, Meridian Club members and press, clearly demonstrating the growing need and interest from visitors and exhibitors alike to be present at the business forum dedicated to the countries that make up the Eastern Mediterranean region.

“Egypt is without doubt one of the world’s most exciting destinations, and with tourism figures in the region already demonstrating promising increases, MTF will continue to provide the essential business forum needed by exhibitors and key travel trade buyers alike, in order to sustain and build upon the vital business generated within the area,” said Matt Thompson, group exhibition director, Reed Travel Exhibitions.

This year, MTF sees the return of both Malaysia and India as exhibiting companies and also includes South Africa who, with a stand space of 60 sq m, are significantly increasing their presence at the event this year.

The Middle East region is once again seeing continued and sustained growth at MTF 2003.

Many destinations and private sector companies have already confirmed their participation, highlighting the importance of this dedicated exhibition. Confirmed exhibitors to date include the major tourist boards of Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Key Egyptian tour operators, travel agencies and the Egyptian Hotel Association have also confirmed their attendance at the event.

Cyprus, Turkey, Spain, Tunisia, Syria, Alexandria, Marsa Alam International Airport and the Tourism Development Authority are currently finalising their participation at MTF.
“As part of our visitor promotion campaign, we are working closely with the Egyptian Tourist Authority offices internationally to invite their most senior buyers to the show,” said Vicky Redwood, marketing manager for the event. “We will be hosting these key buyers at the event for three nights with complimentary accommodation provided by the Egyptian Hotels Association and as official carrier for the fourth consecutive year, Egypt Air will also supply especially-negotiated discounted flights.”

Mediterranean Travel Fair is held under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and the Egyptian Tourist Authority and is supported by the Egyptian Tourism Federation, the Egyptian Hotels Association, the Egyptian Travel Agents Association and Egypt Air.
