WYNDHAM Hotel Group has expanded its Ramada brand in Malaysia with the opening of the 357-room Ramada Plaza Dua Sentral Kuala Lumpur, the brand’s second location in the country.

TTN spoke to general manager Ian Hurst to get more details on the property.

“Our primary geographic sources of business are from within Malaysia with specific interest on East Malaysia, north of Penang and the state of Johor, followed by Singapore and the Asean region, with a specific focus on Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and India.

“Our secondary overseas markets include the Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Oman, Australia, the European Union, the UK and Germany in particular, and developing  geographic sources such as Turkey and Iran,” says Hurst.

The 33-storey hotel is a 50-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and is ideally located steps from the city’s shopping, entertainment and attractions. It is also a short walk from Kuala Lumpur’s integrated rail transportation centre and enjoys close proximity to the city’s main business and tourist hub.

Similar, the hotel is marketed to both leisure and business markets. “It is important for us to achieve the right balance so that we are not perceived as either a tourist hotel or purely corporate. We would like to think that our corporate customers would look to our hotel as their first choice when coming to Kuala Lumpur for leisure purposes either alone or with their families.

“Initially we look to the group leisure market to build part of our platform occupancy along with corporate and government groups such as residential meetings and conferences followed by both the individual leisure and corporate markets.”
